14 million jobs worldwide to vanish in the next 5 years. What are the jobs of the future then?

14 million jobs worldwide to vanish in the next 5 years, says the last report of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Analytics of the World Economic Forum says that in 2023, labour-market transformations driven by technological breakthroughs, such as the coming of age of generative artificial intelligence (AI), are being compounded by economic and geopolitical disruptions and growing social and environmental pressures.

Here are a few points that I find quite gripping in their last report

Over 85% of organizations identify increased adoption of new and frontier technologies and broadening digital access as the trends most likely to drive transformation in their organization.

For many of them big data, cloud computing and AI feature highly on the likelihood of adoption. More than 75% of companies are looking to adopt these technologies in the next five years.

34% of all business-related tasks are already performed by machines and 66% are performed by humans.

Jobs of the future. The majority of the fastest-growing roles are technology-related roles. AI and Machine Learning Specialists top the list of fast-growing jobs, followed by Sustainability Specialists, Business Intelligence Analysts and Information Security Analysts.

Jobs of the past. Clerical or secretarial roles, with Bank Tellers and Related Clerks, Postal Service Clerks, Cashiers and Ticket Clerks etc.

Six in 10 workers will require training in the next 5 years.

10 of the most important skills of the futute 🎇

Creative thinking is growing in importance slightly more rapidly than analytical thinking. The third-fastest-growing core skill is technology literacy. Self-efficacy skills rank also above working with others. The next is the socio-emotional attitudes; resilience, flexibility and agility; motivation and self-awareness.

Systems thinking, AI and big data, talent management, and service orientation and customer service complete the top 10 growing skills.
