Will AI replace you at your work? 5-minute interview with ChatGPT

Artificial intelligence (AI), which already used to be one of the important trends, has suddenly burst into our lives since November 2022. That is when OpenAI presented their ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer).

Less than a week after its public launch, ChatGPT has amassed more than one million users.

One of the key features of ChatGPT is its ability to generate long-form text. But unlike some other language models, which are limited to generating short phrases or sentences, ChatGPT can generate text that is several paragraphs long.

This makes it well-suited for tasks such as generating news articles, stories, or even entire books.

Being very experienced enterprising journalist I wondered if artificial intelligence could replace me at my job. And decided to ask AI!

ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of OpenAI's GPT-3 family of large language models, and is fine-tuned (an approach to transfer learning) with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.

ChatGPT was launched as a prototype on November 30, 2022, and quickly garnered attention for its detailed responses and articulate answers across many domains of knowledge. Its uneven factual accuracy was identified as a significant drawback. Following the release of ChatGPT, OpenAI was valued at US$29 billion. Wikipedia.

ChatGPT can speak English and Spanish. At first I asked AI what it knew about Ukraine. I have got a pretty clear concise answer.

“Ukraine is a country located in Eastern Europe, bordered by Belarus to the north, Russia to the east, the Black Sea to the south, and Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland to the west. Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe […], with a population of over 44 million people. The capital city of Ukraine is Kyiv. Ukrainian is the official language of Ukraine[…] The economy of Ukraine is largely based on agriculture and industry, including steel, coal, and machinery”.

So, tell me please about the main trends in the food market.

The food market is constantly evolving and changing, with new trends emerging every year. Some of the main trends in the food market include plant-based foods, ready-to-eat meals, sustainable food packaging, organic and natural foods, ethnic foods, and delivery services. Plant-based foods such as vegan, vegetarian, and flexitarian options are becoming more popular. Ready-to-eat meals and meal kits are becoming increasingly popular due to the convenience they offer. Sustainable food packaging is becoming more important, with more companies using biodegradable and compostable materials. Organic and natural foods are becoming more popular, as consumers are more aware of the environmental and health impacts of food. Ethnic foods are becoming more popular as well, as consumers are more open to trying new cuisines. Finally, delivery services have grown significantly over the past few years, with more companies offering delivery of groceries, prepared meals, and restaurant dishes.

Can AI be a journalist?

[Answering such a question, ChatGPT behaves very politely.]

No, it is not possible to replace a journalist with a machine or computer program. Journalists are trained professionals who possess unique skills and knowledge that cannot be replicated by technology.

What will be the future of journalism if we work together with AI?

AI has the potential to revolutionize the way journalists work — from automating mundane tasks to helping them find new stories and sources. AI could be used to automate the collection and analysis of data, helping to uncover previously unknown insights and stories. AI can also be used to verify facts and sources more quickly and accurately, and to detect and flag potential issues.

AI could be used to generate stories and headlines, as well as to moderate comments and user-generated content, allowing journalists to focus more on producing high-quality content. AI could also be used to understand user behavior and track engagement, leading to improved content recommendations and better reader experience overall.

Summarizing, I would say that our conversation with ChatGPT was quite productive. Although some questions cannot be answered even by AI.

To the question of when the war will end in Ukraine even ChatGPT has no answer. Although AI also expressed it`s “subjective” point of view.
